Theory backs up experimental evidence for intracellular water T1 as a tumour biomarker


Springer and coworkers in USA have published a paper on the T1 relaxation times (R1) of intra- and extracellular water. Indeed, the difference in R1 of intracellular and extracellular water is significant and increases with decreasing magnetic field strength. This could be translated into a preclinical or clinical setting where an MRI scan at very low magnetic field could reveal tumours without the need for a contrast agent: FFC-MRI!
